Welcome Xiao Hou, a new PhD student! Xiao will be working on growth and characterization of the topological insulator/superconductor interfaces using MBE, TEM, and ARPES. The position is funded through the ML4Q Excellence Cluster.

We have mounted a new manipulator that will allow cooling the sample to below 10K. We are looking forward to testing it when the lab operations are allowed.

Summer and Fall 2020

The work in FZ Juelich has been affected by COVID restrictions. Fortunately, during the time when operations were allowed Tristan was able to complete the calibration of our laser spin-ARPES and perform interesting measurements.

December 2019

We made successful measurements on Bharti’s twisted 2D layers at the MAESTRO beamline at ALS.

Two joint projects have been granted by the FZJ Board of Directors! Our group will have 2 additional PhD students starting in 2018 (joint with theory and quantum transport groups in Juelich).

One project (together with theory) is on antiferromagnetic spin dynamics.

Second project (together with quantum transport) is on transport and spectroscopy on novel topological phases.
